Middletown Police Department Youth Academy

Eligibility Requirements:

  • Applicants must be male and 12 years old at the start of the Academy.

  • Cannot have current conviction charges. Applicants may need to provide detailed documentation in order to substantiate acceptance into the Academy.

  • Must be legal residents of the United States; or have proof of naturalization or legal authorization (documentation may be required).

  • Students must be drug and alcohol free.There is a zero tolerance policy during the Academy.

The Academy will be held July 20 through July 31 at Redding Middle School from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Application and Acceptance Process for MPD Youth Academy

   The Middletown Police Department's two-week Youth Academy will target males 12 to 14 years of age. Our camp is designed to develop basic life skills and build overall self-esteem. The development of these skills should enhance the quality of life for the participants in the academy. The program’s curriculum consists of but is not limited to: drug/alcohol awareness, gang awareness, basic first aid, body language, conflict resolution, teamwork, restaurant etiquette, dating and dating violence, community service, two field trips, life choices, physical fitness/diet and self discipline.

Our goal is to provide participants with the means to form and find their own self-worth through education, life skills, workshops and self-discipline. We will provide a curriculum which is designed to address and instill self-esteem and respect, the respect of others, and to promote both a social and academic foundation.
