Greenlawn Stormwater Project

   Construction started this week on the Greenlawn Stormwater Management Improvement Project, located near the Greenlawn development.
   The improvements consist of retro-fitting the existing stormwater management area by constructing a new pond outlet, dewatering pipe and valve, and embankment improvements.
   Added improvements include a bioswale, bioretention facility and three rip-rap lined forebays. Concrete drainage pipe and drain manholes will be added to improve drainage in the Town of Middletown's open space area.  This project is funded by the DNREC Clean Water State Revolving Loan Fund Program.
   The low bid amount of $304,966.20 was submitted by Austin & Bednash.
   Completion of this project is scheduled for mid November.

Longmeadow and Willow Grove Mill
area sewer line project

   This project involves the construction of a Sanitary Sewer Gravity Main, Sanitary Sewer Force Main and Pump Station that will direct wastewater flow from Willow Grove Mill and Longmeadow to the Town's wastewater treatment facility. At this time, the Town of Middletown contracts with New Castle County to treat the wastewater flowing from these areas.

Scope of the Project:

  • Installing 3,200 linear feet of sanitary sewer gravity main
  • Installing 10,650 linear feet of sanitary sewer force main
  • Installing a Pump Station
  • Contractor -- Austin & Bednash Construction (gravity portion) Remaining work will be awarded at the November meeting of the Mayor & Council of Middletown
  • Projected start date: November
  • Projected completion date: April 2012
  • Work hours: 7 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. (Town Code allows 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.)
  • All sanitary sewer pipe and disturbance is on Middletown property and property owned by St. Andrew's School.
