Townsend man charged with drug violation

On the Sept. 22, 2011, at about 9:30 p.m., MPD Officers Davis and Bauer conducted a traffic stop on N. Broad Street at Cedar Lane Road in reference to an equipment violation. A computerized records check revealed the operator of the vehicle, identified as Kevin L. Watson, 29, of Townsend, possibly had outstanding warrants.
Officers observed items within the vehicle consistent with those used for the packaging of controlled dangerous substances. All occupants were removed from the vehicle and a consensual K-9 sniff of the vehicle revealed 51 Oxycodone pills, 3 Adderall pills, and 21 grams of Cocaine.
Watson was taken into custody without incident and was subsequently arraigned on the charges of possession or consumption of a controlled substance; possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 2 quantity with an aggravating factor; and possession of a controlled substance in a Tier 3 quantity with an aggravating factor. He was issued a secured bond of $10,500, which he was able to post.
