Accident on Del. 299 causes severe injuries

On Sept. 26, 2011, about about 5:55 p.m., Robert Fraser, 80, of Cole Boulevard, Middletown, was operating a 1996 Chevy 2500 pick-up and was exiting the Middletown Post Office on Del. 299. He failed to yield the right of way to Brian Booye, 30, Elkton, Md., who was traveling westbound on Main St, and entered the intersection and struck Booye's vehicle, a 1991 Honda motorcycle. The collision forced the motorcycle to the curb, and Booye was fully ejected from the motorcycle.
Booye suffered multiple fractures of the left side of his body, including pelvis, femur, lower leg. He was transported to Christiana Medical Center by Delaware State Police helicopter, where he was listed in serious but stable condition, and underwent emergency surgery.
The roadway was shut down with the assistance of DELDOT for approx. 4 hours.
NOTE: Middletown Ambulance was on-scene when crash occurred and were instrumental in preserving life as the victim was non-responsive immediately after the crash.
Citations are pending the completion of the crash reconstruction.
