First 'bath salts' arrest in Middletown

On Dec. 31, at about 2:11 p.m., Officer John Stuart of the Middletown Police Department stopped a vehicle for numerous registration violations on Pennington and North Cass streets in Middletown.
Officer Stuart's investigation revealed the driver, who was identified as Joshua MacGregor, 23, of Middletown, was also wanted on an outstanding traffic warrant out of the Court of Common Pleas. Upon being taken into custody, marijuana, bath salts and various drug paraphernalia were located on his person.
The vehicle's passenger, Brittney Clouthier, 24, of Middletown, also had marijuana and drug paraphernalia in her purse.
MacGregor was charged with possession of bath salts, possession of marijuana, possession of drug paraphernalia and numerous traffic violations. He was arraigned on the stated charges and given a $1,500 secured bond. MacGregor was transported to Howard Young Correctional in default of bail.
Clouthier was issued a criminal summons for possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia she was released pending a future court date.
