Man steals checks

On Feb. 16, Middletown Police was dispatched to the PNC Bank, located within the Giant Supermarket at 200 Dove Run Center, Middletown, for a possible identity theft, where an individual entered and re-entered the store cashing numerous checks in a relatively short period of time.
Upon arrival, Middletown Police made contact with a subject identified as Patrick Pileggi, 23, of Galena, Md. The officers' investigation revealed that the three checks Pileggi had cashed were actually stolen from the residence of an 87-year-old Maryland female.
The theft totaled $750 dollars.
Pileggi was charged and arraigned for two counts of identity theft, one count of theft under $1,500 and two counts of forgery in the second degree. He was released on $9,000 unsecured bail by Justice of the Peace Court 11.
