   Officers from the Middletown Police Department responded to the area of Del. 299 and Silver Lake Road in reference to a personal injury accident.

   Investigation revealed that a 2011 Hyundai Elantra was traveling eastbound on Del. 299 about 200 yards west of Silver Lake Road, when a 2008 Dodge Ram towtruck traveling westbound on Del. 299 crossed into the path of the Hyundai.

   Once on scene, officers observed that the 18-year-old driver of a Hyundai from Townsend was trapped. His passenger, a 14-year-old Townsend resident, was out of the vehicle. 

   The driver of the Dodge, Stephen Schultz, 30, of Philadelphia, Pa., was walking around his vehicle. 

   The driver of the Hyundai was extracted from the vehicle by Middletown Volunteer Hose Co., and was transported to Christiana Hospital to be treated for injuries. 

   The 14-year-old passenger was initially transported to Christiana Hospital for evaluation, but was moved to A.I. DuPont Hospital. 

   Both vehicles were towed from the scene.

   Charges are pending against Schultz for driving across the median of the road, Title 21 Section 2124.
