Police warn of thefts from motor vehicles

The Middletown Police Department has handled about 15 reported thefts from motor vehicles in recent days. The vehicles (all but one) were left unsecured and valuables were in view. In one case, a window was broken and a purse was removed.

During the early morning hours (0100-0400) of Tuesday, May 22, in the community of Parkside, seven vehicles were ransacked  and items were removed (purse, electronic equipment, sports equipment and currency) and during the same timeframe, an unsecured vehicle from the Legends also had items removed.

During the early morning hours (0400-0500 hours) Friday, May 25, in the community of Longmeadow, seven unsecured vehicles were ransacked but nothing was reported missing.

The subjects did enter an unsecured garage door and removed a White 2005 Cadillac Deville De Tag 944564.

There have also been similar thefts from vehicles in the communities around Middletown.

We are asking the public for their assistance:

-Please make sure that you secure your vehicles

-Remove all valuables including GPS, laptops, iPads and other electronic equipment

-Don’t leave extra keys in your vehicle

-Make sure you close and secure your garage doors at night

-Immediately report any suspicious activity
