Police to offer RAD class for residents

Date: July 29, 2014

The Middletown Police will be hosting a Basic R.A.D. (Rape Aggression Defense) Course on Tuesday evenings in August: Aug. 5, 12, 19 and 26, from 6 to 9 p.m., at the Middletown Police Station.

The course includes lecture, discussion and self-defense techniques, suitable for women of all ages and abilities.  (Applications will be accepted for students 15 years or older, under 18 requires a parent)

R.A.D. Systems supports self-defense as 90 percent  awareness and therefore teaches a comprehensive course that begins with risk awareness, prevention, reduction and avoidance, while progressing on to the basics of hands-on defense training.  R.A.D. is not a martial arts program. Courses are taught by certified R.A.D. instructors. The R.A.D. System of Physical Defense is currently being taught at many venues and is widely accepted due to the simplicity and effectiveness of the tactics, solid research, legal defensibility and unique teaching methodology.

R.A.D. is the only existing program with a free lifetime return and practice policy, honored throughout both the U.S. and Canada.

There is a $25 registration fee and forms can be found on the Police Department Website, www.middletownpd.us  or at the Police Station, 130 Hampden Road, Middletown. For more information, please email Sgt. Brenner at christine.brenner@cj.state.de.us.
