Pedestrian struck at Wawa

On Feb. 7, at about 5:55 a.m., a 59-year-old truck driver from Millville, N.J., was walking from his tractor-trailer that was parked in the rear of the WAWA (528 West Main St, Middletown) toward the business. As he was walking, a school bus driven by a 61-year-old Townsend resident struck him. The impact knocked the victim to the ground, where his head impacted the asphalt surface and caused a severe head injury. The victim was air lifted by Delaware State Police helicopter to Christiana Medical Center where he was admitted for his injuries. He was listed in serious condition.
The investigation is continuing and there were no children on the bus at the time of the crash.
