Gloucester Blvd. accident
|Date:||February 13, 2013|
On Feb. 7, at about 1:55 p.m., Middletown Police responded to a personal injury crash on eastbound Del. 299, west of Gloucester Blvd. This crash was within the same timeline as a previous crash that occurred at the intersection of Del. 299 and Gloucester Blvd.
The investigation revealed that a 2008 Ford pickup driven by a 43-year-old Middletown resident and a 2007 Mini Cooper driven by a 53-year-old, also from Middletown, were traveling eastbound on Del. 299, where the roadway is still one lane. Traffic was moving with caution as a prior crash was still being investigated at the on-coming intersection. The Mini Cooper came to a stop for the slow moving traffic when it was struck in the rear by the Ford pickup. The Cooper's entire rear end was demolished and the vehicle became disabled. The pick-up continued for several hundred feet before it came to a stop with its front end entirely damaged.
The driver of the Cooper was transported to the Christiana Medical Center by Middletown Volunteer Fire and Hose Ambulance.
The driver of the pickup was uninjured and he was issued a citation for inattentive driving.
Both vehicles were towed from the scene.
