Juvenile charged with Middletown Village burglary

On Feb. 26, at about 3 p.m., Middletown Police Officers Schneider and Fox were dispatched to report of a burglary in the 400 block of Champs Lane in Middletown Village.
Upon arrival, the officers met with juvenile residents who had returned home from school to discover the front door of the residence had been forced open and a number of electronic devices and jewelry had been removed.
The officers were able to develop information indicating that a 17-year-old juvenile male was involved in the burglary and theft. Officers responded to the suspect’s residence in the 100 block of Sassafras Drive, as the officers were taking him into custody, he fled in handcuffs. He was taken into custody after a brief foot chase.
A search warrant was executed at the residence and all of the stolen property was recovered. The juvenile was charged with burglary second degree, theft greater than $1,500, criminal mischief less than $1,000 and resisting arrest and was committed to the New Castle County Detention <span style="mso-bidi-font-size: 12.0pt;" ar-sa;"="" en-us;="" roman";="" new="" "times="" times="">Facility in default of $5,100 bond.
