Middletown man arrested for gun attack

On March 11, 2016, Middletown Police responded to the Middletown Emergency Center in reference to a 22-year-old male who had several serious physical injuries. The investigation revealed that the defendant Anthony Devine, 25, of Middletown, pointed a gun at the victim and then fired a shot, nearly missing the victim. Anthony Devine then struck the victim in the face with the weapon causing facial injuries. Middletown Police executed a search warrant at the defendant’s residence and he fled on foot. Devine was apprehended nearby shortly after fleeing.
During the search warrant, police recovered a firearm that was reported stolen out of Kent County, Maryland. Anthony Devine was arraigned on the charges of assault second degree, reckless endangerment first degree, possession of a firearm during the commission of a felong, receiving a stolen firearm and resisting arrest and issued a $6,500 secured bond. Devine failed to post bond and was transferred to the Department of Corrections, (Vaughn Correctional Institution).
