Police charge Newark man with DQ attempted robbery

On March 9, 2017, at about 8:17 p.m., Middletown Police responded to the Dairy Queen located at 100 Sandhill Drive in Middletown, in reference to an attempted robbery. Police were advised that the suspect approached the employee at the counter and presented a note demanding money, while also implying that he was armed.

The suspect did not obtain any money or property during that encounter and fled the scene.

Investigation revealed the above listed suspect was identified as Michael Berwick, 26, who has a last known address on the 100 block of Aspen Drive in Newark. On March 16, 2017 a warrant was issued for Berwick for Attempted Robbery 1st Degree, Possession of a Firearm During the Commission of a Felony, and Possession of a Firearm by a Person Prohibited.

On March 18, 2017 Michael Berwick was located and taken into custody by the New Castle County Police Department. Berwick was then arraigned and received a cash bail of $85,000. He was then committed to the Howard Young Correctional Institution in lieu of posting bail.
