Today's Tip -- The Effects of Alcohol
Be sure to provide non-alcoholic beverages at your holiday gatherings. To help you to be aware of the effects of alcohol, here are some quick facts and points of reference:
One 12 ounce beer = 5 ounce glass of wine = 1 ½ shots of 80 proof liquor.
How alcohol affects you depends on:
o    How much alcohol is consumed
o    The time period in which it is consumed
o    How much food is in the stomach
o    Body weight
It takes about 1 hour for alcohol to be used by the body and nothing will make a person sober except time.
Alcohol is a depressant and reduces a person’s ability to react.  A blood alcohol content of .1 means a person is 12 times more likely to be in a crash.
