   On Tuesday, Sept. 18, at about 12:52 p.m., Middletown Police conducted a pedestrian stop in the area of the Lakewood Apartments.

   Officers contacted Lateef Dickerson, 28, of Hampstead Court, Middletown, who was found to be in possession of a small quantity of both heroin and marijuana. During the course of the investigation, Dickerson began to actively resist the officer’s attempts to take him into custody. During the struggle, one of the officers was stuck in the face, causing an injury.

  Dickerson was charged with assault second degree, assault of a police officer, resisting arrest, aggravated possession of heroin (within 300 feet of a park), aggravated possession of marijuana (within 300 feet of a park), criminal impersonation and trespassing. Police discovered Dickerson had multiple warrants including: Justice of the Peace Court 9 for Failing to Report to Work Referral on Nov. 3, 2011; Kent County Family Court for Failure to Appear for a Support Hearing on 12/09/2011; New Castle County Court of Common Pleas for Failure to Reinstate his License; New Castle County Family Court for Failure to Appear for a Mediation Hearing on 04/17/2012; Kent County Superior Court for Failure to Appear for a civil contempt of court hearing on 08/22/2012.
