Fireworks in

Middletown July 4

The Town of Middletown’s annual Fireworks Display is planned for Saturday, July 4, at dusk. In the event of rain, the fireworks will be held Sunday, July 5.

Pack a picnic basket and head out to Silver Lake Park, or enjoy some of the food offered by local non-profit groups for sale in the park.

The fireworks will begin as soon as it gets dark enough to see the fireworks – usually between 9 and 9:30 p.m., although residents can enter the park around 5 to 6 p.m.

To help keep everyone safe, Town of Middletown employees and Middletown Police Department temporary officers will oversee parking at Silver Lake. The temporary officers will also look out for prohibited items at the park such as pets, fires, grills and motorized vehicles.

Nonprofit vendors will sell food and items such as hotdogs and glowsticks during the fireworks show. Vendors can sign up before noon on July 3 by calling Rae Teel at 378-5670.

'Freedom Festival Friday'

The Middletown Action Network, a commission for the Town of Middletown, invites the community to our first Freedom Friday Festival on Friday, July 3, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., in the Dale United Methodist Church parking lot on East Green Street. Come out for some free food, an "open mic" for singing and poetry, and learn how you can get involved with the Middletown Action Network! For more information, call Tim DeSchepper at 378-1164.

The Park will be open daily from 7:30 a.m. to dusk.
The 100-acre park features walking trails, nine pavilions of various sizes, an 8-acre catch and release fishing pond, a dog park, playgrounds and wide open fields for playing pick-up games of any kind.
The dog park opened in the fall and features 5-acre and 3-acre fenced-in areas for large dogs and small dogs respectively. There are also benches and water fountains for people and doggies in the dog park area.
The pavilions are available on a first-come, first-served basis, except for the three largest pavilions, which will be leased out on a daily basis. To rent a pavilion, call 378-5670.
Directions: Travel southbound U.S. 301 toward Maryland. Make a left onto Del. 15 (Levels Road) just south of Wal-Mart. The Park is about 1.5 miles on the right hand side.
For more information, contact Kristen Krenzer at 378-2711.
